Questions?

What makes the Endurance Practice Chanter different from others?

The Endurance Practice Chanter is the first to solve the problem of moisture control with an innovative endurance cartridge system. Unlike other chanters that require frequent breaks to dry out the reed, this design allows you to play for extended periods without interruptions, making it ideal for serious practice and performance preparation.

How does the moisture control system work?

The Endurance Practice Chanter comes equipped with three Endurance Cartridges that absorb moisture as you play. This prevents moisture buildup in the chanter, keeping the reed dry for a clear, consistent sound. The cartridges are easy to recharge or replace and keep your chanter performing at its best, even during long practice sessions.

Is the Endurance Practice Chanter suitable for beginners?

Yes! The Endurance Practice Chanter is designed for pipers of all skill levels. Whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience, the moisture control system makes it easier to focus on learning, practicing, and improving without the interruptions caused by moisture buildup.

How do I know which size to choose?

We offer three sizes: Regular, Extended, and Junior.

  • Regular size (Standard) is the standard option for most players.
  • Extended (Long) size offers a longer size and is slightly lower pitched.  Sometimes called “Pipe Chanter Size” the overall length more closely matches the length of the pipe chanter.
  • Junior (Child) size is perfect for younger pipers or those with smaller hands.

What are the dimensions for the Endurance Practice Chanter (length and weight)?
Weight for Endurance Practice Chanter with reed and Endurance Cartridges installed.

Regular:  18 inches (45.7cm)   5.2 oz (148g)
Long: 22 inches (55.9 cm)   6.1 oz (174g)
Junior:  17.5 inches (44.5 cm)   4.9oz (138g)
How long do the Endurance Cartridges last?

The Endurance Catridges are designed to last for several practice sessions before needing to be replaced or reactivated. You can reuse the Endurance Cartridges again and again by allowing them to air dry between sessions or reactivating them in the oven. With regular care, the cartridges provide long-lasting moisture control.

You can reactive your Endurance Cartridges by placing them in a tray or dish in your oven at 250° F (120° C) for one hour.

Can I replace or add more Endurance Cartridges?

Yes, the Endurance Practice Chanter comes with three Endurance Cartridges, and you can purchase additional cartridges as needed. They are easy to insert and replace, ensuring continuous moisture control.

Extra Endurance Cartridges are available for purchase here.

What kind of reeds work with the Endurance Practice Chanter?

Your Endurance Practice Chanter comes with a high-quality reed that’s designed to have a smooth sound and efficient airflow.  You are welcome to use any reed of your choice — the Endurance Practice Chanter has a clear tone with a true scale with all makes of quality chanter reeds.

Does the Endurance Practice Chanter feel restrictive to play?

No.  The Endurance Cartridges is designed to allow efficient and free airflow without any feeling of air restriction.   It feels great to play!  The sound is clear and smooth and in tune.

How do I care for my Endurance Practice Chanter?

The Endurance Practice Chanter is designed to give you a hassle-free and long-lasting practice experience.

When the Endurance Cartridges have reached their maximum absorption, you will need to remove them and reactivate them in the oven.

For the best experience, purchase a second set of Endurance Cartridges and always have a dry set on hand for uninterrupted practicing.

What material is it made from?

The Endurance Practice Chanter is made from polypenco (Delrin/Acetal), a highly durable material that resists warping and cracking, ensuring longevity even with frequent use.

The Endurance Cartridges are made from resilient plastic filled with food-safe, pharmaceutical-grade silica gel desiccant approved for use with consumer products.
