How the Endurance Practice Chanter Works:
The Endurance Practice Chanter is designed to look and feel like a traditional practice chanter, but with one powerful innovation: complete moisture control.
A standard chanter is made up of three main parts—the top, the bottom, and the reed. In contrast, the Endurance Practice Chanter includes a unique two-part top that easily unscrews to reveal a hidden compartment. This compartment is designed to hold the Endurance Cartridges, which actively absorb moisture to keep your reed dry and your sound consistent.
Installing the Endurance Cartridges
- Unscrew the Top: Simply twist apart the two sections of the chanter’s top.
- Insert the Endurance Cartridges: Place the cartridges inside the compartment. They’ll fit snugly to ensure maximum moisture absorption.
- Reassemble: Screw the two top sections back together, securing the cartridges in place.
With this moisture control system in action, you’ll enjoy long, uninterrupted practice sessions without the need to stop, dry out your reed, or worry about sound quality.
How to Regenerate Your Endurance Cartridges
The Endurance Cartridges are plastic cylinders containing silica gel, a trusted desiccant that effectively absorbs moisture. These cartridges can be reused over and over by regenerating the silica gel through drying.
Steps to Regenerate:
- Place in Oven: Place the cartridges on an oven-safe dish or tray.
- Heat Gently: Set your oven to 200°F (90°C) and heat the cartridges for one hour.
IMPORTANT: When regenerating your Endurance Cartridges, do not use a microwave and do not exceed the maximum recommended temperature of 200 F (90 C) or you may permanently damage to the silica gel or the plastic casing of the cartridges, rendering them unusable and creating a potential fire hazard.
For uninterrupted practice sessions, consider purchasing additional sets of Endurance Cartridges. With spare sets on hand, you’ll always have a fresh set ready to go while others are regenerating.
If you choose not to keep extra cartridges, store your cartridges in a sealed plastic bag (such as a Ziploc) or another airtight container to keep them dry and ready for use.
