Jori Chisholm founded BagpipeLessons.com in 1999 with a simple goal of providing high-quality information for learning the bagpipes. Jori has been teaching online one-on-one video lessons since 2003, and was featured on the front page of the New York Times in a story about the growth of online music lessons. He also created the world’s first series of bagpipe tune and video lessons, which have been downloaded by thousands of pipers around the world.

Jori has made major contributions to improving and advancing contemporary bagpipe practice and performance, including the invention of novel products like the Tone Protector™ Chanter Cap and Reed Case, The Piper’s Advantage™ Phone Mount, and the Piper’s Metronome App.

In 2011, Jori founded the world’s first online bagpipe competition, The World Online Piping & Drumming Championships, which has attracted thousands of competitors from more than 20 countries and six continents!

As a competitive bagpiper, Jori has won many top awards, including the U.S. Gold Medal for Piping (four times) and many top awards in Scotland at the Argyllshire Gathering, Northern Meeting, Cowal Highland Games, and Royal Braemar Gathering. He has also played with the world-famous Simon Fraser University Pipe Band, winning the World Pipe Band Championships three times, performing at the Sydney Opera House, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and at New York’s Lincoln Center.

Jori holds a B.A. in Psychology with focus on learning and music from the University of Puget Sound and lives in Seattle with his wife and two sons.
